I had high hopes for Metric’s new album because they’ve had some real solid singles in the past, but I didn’t expect to enjoy each track this much. Lost Kitten is more low key than the rest of the album but I wanted something a little more light-hearted. I never know if my love for an album is based on my current mood, the context of my week, or the actual quality of the band. I’m probably exaggerating how good Synthetica is but what the fuck I’ve been dancing my ass off all week, I hope everyone else does the same.
I can’t stop posting songs by this young French gentleman. This song in particular is just him showing off how to mix shit together. It’s got pieces of like 50 songs including The Beatles, Daft Punk, Justice, Muse, Radiohead, Queen, Yelle, The Killers, Calvin Harris, and Danger. It’s a bit of an assault on your senses at first but if you’re not dancing by 0:30 then you can have your money back.
Off of Mutemath’s second album, this track is a seriously brooding mix of sick vocals, an enveloping base, some sporadic piano and a moving orchestral segment to top things off. I read somewhere that “clipping” is what happens when too much amperage gets shoved through a speaker, which causes distortion. Yeah.
Today everyone is celebrating the birthday of a legend in music. Yeah I suppose Paul deserves some recognition, however I can’t help but wonder why more people aren’t instead acknowledging the day a truly unique and wonderful woman was brought into this world. Happy birthday Beverly. You are the greatest.
